Lesson 388 – Quotable Chicks

Friday’s Quotes for the Chicks

Jolly old St. Chick

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, when they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky. So up to the house-top the coursers they flew, with the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

Clement Clarke Moore

Depending on which weather channel you follow, we either are or are not directly in the path of Irene. No matter, you can be sure that all our pets will be safely locked inside their respective houses (the rabbit will go into the shed) and we have plenty of food and water stored in case the animals need it. I’m anticipating losing our electricity (around here, if the guy up the street sneezes we lose electricity.) Haven’t tried it yet but people have told me that nothing beats cooking scrambled eggs on an open fire.

I’ll let you know.

Safe one everybody.

some of my own little chicks

A babe in the house is a well-spring of pleasure, a messenger of peace and love, a resting place for innocence on earth, a link between angels and men.

Lesson 378 – Quotable Chicks

Friday’s Quotes for the Chicks

strange little characters

The family.  We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another’s desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.”

Friday’s Quotes for the Chicks

“Some beach, somewhere. There’s a big umbrella casting shade over an empty chair. Palm trees are growin’ and a warm breeze a blowing. I picture myself right there, on some beach, somewhere.”

Lesson 348 – Quotable Chicks

Friday’s Quotes for the Chicks

It was in May, 1918, that a new friend and companion came into my life: a character, a personality, and a ring-tailed wonder. He weighed less than a pound when I discovered him, a furry ball of utter dependence and awakening curiosity, unweaned and defenseless. Wowser and I were immediately protective. We would have fought any boy or dog in town who sought to harm him.

Arrrrrr - it be Griffin

You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself.

Jim Rohn

Congratulations to my second little chick who graduates from High School tomorrow. God speed my poppet. Remember always that you have a large flock back home supporting you in every step you take of your life’s adventure.
