Sometimes when you also have 6 kids in the flock, it’s not always about the chickens.
Hallmark makes some of the best holiday decorations around.
A few years ago, we got these little dancing decorations. When you press the button the figure tap dances to a holiday song. When you link them all together, they all dance in unison (with a short solo from the one whose button was pushed). Endless hours of entertainment.
This year I found an electronic holiday countdown ornament at our local Hallmark Store. When you enter the day and time it counts down to Christmas by the day, hour, minute and second.
I thought it would be fun for the kids.
What I had forgotten though is that Emma is in full Christmas mode starting the day after Thanksgiving. Emma LOVES Santa. Emma LOVES Christmas. Emma LOVES happy.
Here she is waving at Santa in our town parade this past weekend.
And here she is with the countdown ornament, from which she tells us pretty much on an hourly basis just how much longer we have until Christmas (down to the second). Emma can’t wait, really, she just can’t wait.
And you know what? I actually can wait because I’m getting such a kick out of watching her deliciously agonizing anticipation. It reminds me of a little girl, many, many years ago who would take the paper ring off of the Holiday countdown chain while wondering if Christmas would ever, ever, finally arrive.
