We’re looking for new challenges in which the entire family can participate.
So far we’ve:
• Measured the edible food we throw out for one month and discovered that we threw out more than the national average. Because of that experience we’ve modified how we store and reuse food.
• Made every recipe from a food magazine (still in progress) as a form of summer entertainment. We’ve tried new tastes and compared what our final product looks like to those in the magazines.
• We’ve kept (and are still keeping) chickens to see if the work involves justifies the eggs obtained.
• We’ve bought the kids clothing at local thrift shops and yard sales.
What’s next? We’ve received a few suggestions of things to try. These include:
• Playing a diet game from the book called “Game On” to see if we can better our heath.
• As a family walk the equivalent length of our state (New Hampshire 190) in one month.
• See how much money we can make on eBay selling stuff we have around the house for one month.
• Go vegetarian for one month and see if the teenage boys are still talking to me at the end.
Do you have some suggestions for a family challenge we could undertake. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to do something you’ve read or heard about?
Send us your suggestions for trying a new method to save costs and live a healthy life-style and we just may try it!
